I have recently bought a Merc 110 that has been in storage for 25 years. This thing looks like it was used less than one season with the inside of the cover looking new. We fired it up (2nd pull) in a garbage can and the Pee Hole just sputtered a little water. I put it on a 14' alumacraft 1950 model and put it in the water this week. Started easy and the water from the Pee Hole was good and strong when I started to apply power. What Should I do as a preventive before we take it out longer. I have not had a boat & Motor ever.

A new impeller would be a good idea. Also, the pee hole sometimes gets clogged with mud or marine growth, so a piece of weed whacker wire comes in handy for keeping it clear.

Maybe change the lower unit oil while you are working on the impeller.

Thank you for that information. I did drain the lower unit oil and refilled with new. I was very surprised that the oil that I drained out looked like new. I know it had been there for 25+ years.

Seems it has little running time as you suspected. The impeller vanes are scrunched into a tight space and can weaken over time. Overheating will damage the engine quickly. YT has videos that can help.
