Just purchased and stored a 1968 Starcraft Suncruiser 20 fiberglass boat. It is equip t with a 160 Mercruiser.
The interior is worn and stripped out now, the floor is being pulled and redone in the spring but that is no big deal. The hull is perfect and not at all marked. The original owner would not even install a transducer in the transom. It was his baby.
Any idea what kind of mileage I can expect?

Boats are not rated by mileage. They are rated by gallons per hour. It really depends on your right hand and boat weight/hull design.

What RPM and speed are you going at cruise speed?

Re: New to me

Probably about 3+ mpg with average load and 2800-3000 rpms. Engine is a in line 6 mercruiser rated at 160hp ?

Yes inline 6, 250CID. The trip I want to make after getting use to the boat next spring is about 50 miles and the boat has two new 11Gal tanks so I was just asking to get an approximate range. I know the rule of thumb is 1/3 out 1/3 back and 1/3 in reserve. Looks like a few 5 gal cans of fuel would be needed to be safe.
Just asking and thinking out loud is all.

Thanks

Sounds like a super nice cruise! I love long cruises like that. Where are you planning to go?

With it being new to you a can or two sounds prudent. If you can fill up where your going you only need one extra. At 3 mpg you would use 16-17 gallons. The more you load it up the less mileage. Sounds like a great boat
