Greetings all,

Great web site and forum.

I recently aquired a 17' Smoker Craft Laser with a 91(I asume), 115 hp Johnson on it. It seems to run alright with a couple of exceptions. I am trying to restage my prop. I've been in the prop forum with this issue and it won't be resolved until I get on the water in the spring. The other issue is the motor will die at times going from idle to forward. I'd like to fix that, but again, next spring. So I'm getting prepared by getting manuals and what ever else this group may suggest for a newby.

Here's the manual for my motor.....I think.

Do I need just the set, just the service manual, all? What do you suggest? What else should I know about this motor?

Thanks in advance,

Al

Start with a compression test.

Hey Claude, where abouts in Alberta? I'm from Brooks AB.
hmm, model #, 1991 115 hp isn't enough? All of the Cook manuals have the same part# for all models of that year. It's parked out at the inlaws for the winter. I'll have to go get name plate data.

I've pulled the spark plugs wich are all a nice tan color, except one being a bit darker. I also did a compression test and the results are, 107, 108, 112, 115 psi. Within 10 percent wich I think is acceptable.

Thanks for the response guys.

Compression sounds good, if you send Ken Cook your model# he should send you the rite manuals.

By the way I am from Falher just 40 mile south of Peace River. Nice to talk to another Albertan. have a nice evening.

Claude.
