My '95 K1500 had some driveline issues. Binding in reverse, possibly trans, or other. Also had a frame that was getting bad and it was all pretty rusty.. Was eyeballing a 2003 1500 4x4 with the 5.3L with 110k and was a RCLB but it also had some rust showing that was waiting to come through and so I passed. Truck is also my DD so I had to do something and did not want to get another fixer upper as that is what the Chevy became.

Ended up going up in price to a 2007 F-150 4x4, RCLB. shade over 64k miles. 4.6L, tow package with the additional heavy tow package on it and it also has a good trailer brake controller on it. It is an XL model so it has roll up windows, manual locks and a vinyl floor but those are all things that I actually prefer. It does have cruise, tilt and A/C along with the AM/FM/CD mp3 stereo so it works for me. I liked my extended cab Chevy for the storage but the extended area behind the rear seats and the 2 rear access doors is really cool and the storage is great. I rarely had people in the back seat of the truck.

Have not even had a chance to get pics of it due to my work hours, but here are the dealer pics. Had it since Friday

my dad has that cab in his 07 reg box v6, its nice but i prefer my 06 crew cab having kids and what not, just research the spark plug issue and cam phasers other then that you put in 5w20 and the proper filter and she is a 200,000 mi+ truck

I had the 2000 version of that exact truck. It even had a 5 speed manual transmission. I loved that truck and it ran like a champ.

You should check for a tag showing the build date of your truck. 3-valve 4.6 engines built before 11/30/07 found in many 2004?2008 Fords had an issue where part of the spark plug became seized in the cylinder head. These engines had a two piece spark plug that would break off when replaced.

I would suggest you pull a plug to see if the engine's ever had the spark plugs replaced with a one piece spark plug. If not, there is a removal technique used by experienced automotive techs to improve the chances of having a problem.

Otherwise, they're great engines. I had a 4.6 in a 1998 Expedition, and it got 19.75 mpg on the highway in its first trip. That's efficient for such a heavy vehicle.

Most likely you have the 4.6L in its 2 valve version. It does not/will not suffer from the spark plug malody of the 4.6- 3 valve or the 5.4- 3 valve.

The 4.6L 2-v is about as bulletproof an engine as ever made. They go 500K in taxi's often.

Note: For the 3 valve engines, the spark plug issue can be avoided by replacing the plugs early and using the new Motorcraft plugs.

Yep. I think the only Full Size Fords to get the 3V 4.6L before 2009 was Lincoln Navigator/ Aviator... Mine does have the 2V 4.6. I actually thought it was the 3V when I bought it.. They had a nearly identical '06 on the lot with 65k and a 5.4L but it did not have cloth seats, tow package or a few other options so I took the better of the 2 trucks, and mine is way nicer than the other anyway, and was also the same price.
