So I called the number on the ad. A sweet young lady answered and I asked her what she wanted for it. She said she had no idea and asked me what I thought it was worth. Her ad summarizes my response. My BIL and I each kicked in $125. Should be a lot of fun.

Re: New Toy

I've had one just about like that(mine's 17 feet), since bought new from Sears Roebuck back in 1983, run it with a 3HP Tanaka, and it's really a great little river/creek rig for fishing, camping, beach-combing, etc. For short trips you can just use a trolling motor to move it. For shallow/saltwater fishing it's awful hard to beat since you can get in the little creeks and areas you wouldn't want to take a big motor. You can also just flip your motor up and use paddles to "sneak up" on those spooky Red Fish! Have Fun!

Nice score:D I've been looking for a huge square-back canoe myself for a couple years now. They are usually pretty pricey even used($5-600).

Throw a little outboard on her and have some fun:)

Just tell the truth......................
You tell your wife that the BIL bought it.
And he tells his wife that his BIL bought it.

Good idea Jeep, but probably wouldn't buy either of us much time since my wife talks to my sister more than I do.

Here's the ploy: "Dear, I saw in a magazine a guy having a romantic pic-nic with his lady-love on a wonderful secluded island that they found while in their wonderful old romantic aluminum canoe, and it reminded me of us"... now what's she going to say? It's all in the presentation...go for it!

She's going to say "why would I go out with you in that thing when you can take me out in the party barge?" Maybe I'll get her into the raft one day, but I doubt it. Sigh. I'll just take my lumps.

Re: New Toy

Nice job!

We bought a 4 year old Motorguide Pro 46# thrust bow mount trolling motor at an auction Saturday for $7.50. While it didn't have a mount, my old Motorguide, which had just died, gladly donated its old mount....and it fit perfectly.

And the motor needed a new micro switch....a $16 investment. Motor works great for a total outlay of around $25.
