I picked up a trailer for my 25' Cruisers Yachts, the old roller trailer is a rust bucket.

Im trying to figure out how I need to set up the new trailer. It has bunks that are 11x8...Im not to sure if that is big enough. The net weight of the boat is around 4300lbs.

Next question is I know I need to add a few keel rollers to the trailer but Im not sure if the weight of the boat is supposed to rest on the rollers.

I would pull those bunks and add 4"X8" or 4"x10" beams for the new bunks. Also, on a bunk trailer, all that I have seen, the keel does not rest on rollers except maybe at the bow. Mine has a forward Vee Bowguide on the trailer that ensures a stright load and supports the keel at the bow. There are NO rollers on my trailer at all...

Would a 3700lb 2 speed manual winch be the proper size? Looking at the
Fulton T3700.

I would think so, but I will tell you, my winch never get rolled out more than a foot. When you setup to drive on and off, you have very little winching to do. Even if you have to winch, with a proper setup bunk, you float most of the way up, the winch just a few feet, so with part of the boat still floating, you would not be winching the entire DRY weight...

Re: New trailer for old boat

Thanks..I'm pretty cluless when it come to setting up a bunk trailer, although my little boat does have bunks and I think I can pretty much copy that setup, but on a bigger scale. I want to make sure the weight is even, on the old roller trailer the boat swayed the tail end of my truck when I got up to 45mph...makes me think the boat was sitting to far forward on the old trailer.

Thanks,
Chris
