I hope I can put this here. I installed a new trim gauge
on my 85 trophy and tryed it out, when the motor is up
the gauge reads down, and when the motor is down it
reads up. I know I have the wires right ( went by instr.)
I looked at the motor and it looks like there was a place
for screw or something that should have something riding on the sender to activate it. right now the motor
is the only thing hitting the little flap of the sender.
Anyone know whats going on with this or am I missing
something.

Re: New trim gauge

Or your new gauge doesn't match the sender on the motor. You don't say what kind of engine you have but Johnson/Evinrude are different from Marniner/Mercury. The sender on Johnson/Evinrude goes 1 ohm up to 88 ohms down. Mercury goes from 167 ohms up to 10 ohms down.

Are you talking about the gauge or the sender?
The gauge is turned the right way to read. Just like my other gauges. I was thinking since
there was a screw hole on the engine that it should have a small rod
or something that hits the flap for up, down. I can take
pics, but I can't seem to figure out how I can get them to post. Also the new trim gauge is for a Johnson.

Snapfish should work fine but i see no pic.
I was talking about the sender, not the guage.

Thank you studymandingo for getting my pic up.
Is the sender turned wrong or is this right?

Re: New trim gauge

In the pic i take it the motor is in the up position. It really doesnt look like anything can move the arm on the sender. So if you push the arm on the sender down the guage reads up?
I would think someone will have some input on this..

Re: New trim gauge

Gary H NC, Yes you right about the motor being in
the up position and right again about pushing the sender
down and reads up.
