Gary H NC, Yes you right about the motor being in
the up position and right again about pushing the sender
down and reads up. The sender was already on
the boat when I got it.

It looks like you could fabricate a bracket that would attach to the transom and hold the arm down.That way when you lower the engine it would let the arm move up.or actually the mounted housing of the sender would come down...
Maybe it was something that is missing from the boat that was originally installed.
It would not take much,just a piece of aluminum could do it..
Hope that made sense..

2 I think, There are 2 wires that connect to the gauge for the
sender.

I was thinking the same thing as Bruce, Switch the wires around but i doubt that would work. Something needs to move the sender arm in the correct arc..
