New VP Rigid Bellows Slip off?

Hi all,

Replacing the bellows at the weekend, from the older VP style flexible/pliable rubber to new VP OEM rigid type.

I understand they updated their design some years back now, however when applying them and on tilting the pivot housing upward they slipped off.

They were correctly seated into the grooves on the flange, tightened to torque spec on the jubilee clip.

Any advice, should I just ignore torque specs and tighten this up.

Thanks

Never heard of this happening with the new design. Make sure you have the correct part. I`d make sure it was seated well and clamp it down well. i dont think a little bellows sealant would hurt if you wanted to use it too.

Thanks Brichi - I've clamped down more than the specified torque, seems to be holding, it just feels more reluctant for the pivot housing to trim up. Feels harder to push up than previously.

Tightened up and holding, just so worried on trimming the drive at anchor they will slip off.

Can water get past the driveshaft on a volvo penta sx drive and potentially sink the boat?
