I'd like to have my hull coated with that stuff. And a couple hundred more things.

very cool. amazing that it can repel polar compounds like water, and non-polar compounds like oils. there is some very fancy chemistry going on there. I wish I knew what it was.

Treating the hull was the first thing I thought of--but just because it repels liquid, I don't know if that necessarily means it makes the surface slicker for better performance.

I'd like to follow up on this stuff in the months ahead to see its best applications.

2. How long will Ultra-Ever Dry coating last?
Answer: The SE 7.6.110 formula’s longevity in use is susceptible to environmental conditions (UV / abrasion). This coating will generally last 2-8 months in direct sunlight and outdoor conditions before recoating of the top coat would be required. When used in indoor or covered applications outdoors, the SE 7.6.110 coating should last for a year or more. Other formulas are being added to our product line that can provide years of useful life before any recoat is needed.

3. Can I spray this on the bottom of my boat?
Answer: We are still testing this application. We do not have any meaningful or conclusive results at this time.

24. Can you use Ultra-Ever Dry where it is continuously submerged in water or liquid, like the inside of a pipe with
constantly flowing liquid?
No, this is not a good application. The reason is the nano-coating relies on a barrier of oxygen/air to form the barrier on the surface of the material it is coating. Unless the coating can become exposed to air every now and then, it cannot “recharge”. So coating the inside of continuously fl owing pipes is not a prime application. If it is intermittent usage, it may work well. Steel coated with Ultra-Ever Dry has been immersed in salt water for 30 days without any
effect.

The patent for that chemistry is going to make someone a billionaire in very short order. The number of commercial/industrial applications for this kind of technology is mind blowing!

Thanks for the link...VERY cool stuff!

Depending on cost, and where you live, this might be a good product for roofs. If it repels water like that, it means it's also repelling the dirty rainwater which requires us to pressure wash so often.

But again, pressure cleaning isn't expensive, so you would have to do the math on the dollars and cents.

I would definitely buy a pair of gloves and boots treated with that! Will it work on my long hair dachshund?

My neighbor's father was one of the founders of WD40. The son is now on the WD40 Board of Directors. No wonder he was doing the dance of joy out on his patio this morning :)

totally awesome . . . I am wondering about all the various marine applications.

If I coat my shirt and pants in that stuff, can I walk to work in the rain (W/o coat) :noidea:

I am thinking it will work great for Canvas tops on convertibles and think about Bimini tops and boat covers. Also for Motorcyclists no need for a rain suit or coat a rain suit in it.

The many bowriders and runabouts like mine with plywood floors under carpet would be well served with a spray of this each spring.

I didn't see any reference to or affiliation with WD-40 anywhere on the video or any of the info with it.
