I posted a while back about getting new wheels for the Chevelle, well, I waffled about four times before I finally said "The H*ll with it and went ahead with it. I`m really glad i did as i think they look awesome on this car. I`m pretty old school when it comes to wheels on these old classics so it was a tough decision. They are 17 X 8 front and back with 275 X 40 X 17`s in the rear and 235 X 45 X 17`s in the front..

People really liked them when I went to the Cruise last weekend.

Hey LD, is that your ride, or one of the collection?

I'm not too up with tire rotation (I Iet Les Shwab deal with it), but won't there be an issue with differant tire sizes front and rear?

For a classic, I like American Mags and Red Line tires.

This is my ride and as far as rotation, this car won`t be driven enough to worry about it.

I don`t fault anyone for there opinions on the wheels. There are lots of different opinions as to what looks good on what. I actually want to lower the front at least another inch or maybe two. Stance is everything to me and I think the rear is perfect, but the front needs to come down some. I`m thinking about dropped spinles as the front springs are big block springs cut one coil.

Yes, that alone would settle the front end down about right. I have mulled the Idea around, used 454`s are almost as cheap as a 350. Can`t afford a 502 or a 572. All that weight on the nose would sure mess up a great handling car though.

Sweet looking Chevelle. Is it a 67 or 66? I can't tell unless I see the tail lights. The modern wheels look cool. `It looks refined and classy. I like the old muscle look of old Cragars with raised white lettered fat tires.
Is it a 4spd or auto?
Really a beautiful car!

1967 Malibu. It`s a late 80`s 350 crate engine with a lumpy cam, hi rise and a 650 spreadbore holly. I have a set of cast Sanderson headers to put on and some milled valve covers. Also a power brake booster, it already has disk brakes in the front. It`s a 4 SP with a 12 bolt posi, 356 gear set. Lakewood traction bars.

I`m also thinking of two toning it, breaking it at the body line and painting the top silver and doing a graphic starting just in front of the door handle. Although it does look real clean the way it is.

This is a picture of what I mean about the two tone, and the stance I want.

I like your idea of the two tone too. Tough decision. She looks good both ways. The two tone inspires a different attitude. I think it adds to the modern custom look in agressive muscle way. I'd go the two tone.
The drive line you have sounds really nice for taking her out for a cruise. Kinda road friendly. I have some friends that go overboard on the power maker and then they can't drive their cars on the street. Well, they could but not for long. Do you have the M-21 or M-22?
I like the M-22. It's real strong (was refered to as the Rock Crusher) and when you cruise it has a nice muscle whine to it.
If you get it painted you'll have to share some pic's.
Drop your front end like the two tone 66. That stance follows with the agressive look. Any shots of your interior?
Real nice toy you have there.

I used to like the m-22 also, but I would bust them as fast as you could hand em' to me, they woud break the trans housing where the cluster shaft went through, what held up for me is the t-10 from the 4 speed vegas...????????
but high gear would let go in those at times.........

You must have some major power that hooks up real good to break a M-22. I had a 1966 Pontiac Ventura that I put an M-22 in after going thru a M-21 and a T-10. It had a 220 first gear. That was a big car. Comparable to the Impala SS. It had a 4:11 12 bolt posi. I would get rubber in all 4 gears. Well actually a chirp in 4th. I had that when I was 19 and I drove it like I stole it. Never would pass up a race back then.

yup, that's the kind of power that these lap top controlled rice burners can never experience they are fast but it's just not the same feeling.......

Re: New wheels on the Chevy!

This car will never be a show car like the Foose 66 pictured. It will only be an eye apealing cruiser. I just don`t have the money to go all the way..Unfortunatly the trans is a Saginaw, (Unsure which gear ratio), Doesn`t matter as I`m not going to hammer it much. The shifter is a Hurst comp plus with a modification so you can use the stock shifter.. The interior is a stock set out of a 67 SS but it`s showing some wear. Even though it looks decent to the casual viewer, it could all stand to be replaced. Drivers seat has one cracked area, the carpet is just adaquate, the mice have chewed two holes in the headliner towards the back. the door panels could use replacement and the dash crome is going away. It`s all just tired looking . Inside the trunk looks new, it even has the original spare, tie down and jack.

I really like the new wheels man.

I dont like the two tone paint for some reason, but I never have on any car.

I like the paint as it is right now.
