What painting process did you follow. Ex. Sand, etch? Looks like the same motor I have. Did you keep the VRO, Dump or retro fit it with working VRO pump from 89 / 90 vintage? What temperature was Atmosphere when you pained lower unit?

Went to the Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Hall yesterday. Met allot of folks trying to sell me a new boat. Non of the folks down there seem to interested in renovating older aluminum boats. Not surprising.

However, did run across a couple of folks that gave some suggestions on what to do before firing up motor. Such as compression test. One even volunteered to look / inspect motor and do compression test for free.

Fellow, that offered free assistance mentioned the Evinrude V4 90 were very good reliable motors. Smokey and a little more thirsty than todays E-tecs but good reliable power? Any opinions on my power.

Would really like to find a larger Center Console for the boat so I can have more real-estate for Fish, Chart plotters, depth finders, entertainment hub, mounting external GPS antenna. Really like the console that came with the larger Starcraft Mariner 220 Also noticed that Starcraft had some recent Center Consoles 2007, 2008 vintage. Do you think the factory might sell a new / larger center console to put on my project boat?

I have an '85 V90 Johnson, runs great, so far very low maintenance.

On my 21' Mariner it pushes it 40mph with an average load, been up to 42 to 44 with a light load and perfect water, speed shown on a old handheld gps and two fish finders.

On the CC, can't hurt to call them. They might have old stock or a second sitting around. Also dealers / marina's around you. The other would be to modify your's or make a new one.

I don't know about Starcraft selling CCs as parts. But they are out there, Google "fiberglass center console". For example; Fiberglass Center Consoles

There are other makers as well. Sometimes you can find them on Craigs List as parts.
