I have a 1987 Evinrude 90HP Model E90TLCUR, and have a few questions on the thing:

What is the correct fuel hose size? (5/16" or 3/8")?

In order to disable the VRO, and run pre-mix, do I just have to cap off the oil supply lines to the pump and remove the oil-tank, then run 50:1 pre-mix?

Is the color of the motor the Light Blue Metallic Evinrude paint color, or the Silver Color? (It's been sprayed with some blue that's flaking off, and it's faded on the cowl, and I can't tell if it's the blue, or the silver)

thanks

Fuel hose = 3/8".

Paint = No idea.

VRO disable (As Follows).

(VRO Pump Conversion To Straight Fuel Pump)
(J. Reeves)

You can convert the VRO pump into a straight fuel pump, eliminating the oil tank and VRO pump warning system, but retain the overheat warning setup (and fuel restriction warning if so equipped) by doing the following:

1 - Cut and plug the oil line at the engine so that the oil side of the VRO pump will not draw air into its system. Trace the wires from the back of the VRO to its rubber plug (electrical plug) and disconnect it.

2 - Trace the two wires from the oil tank to the engine, disconnect those two wires, then remove them and the oil tank.

3 - Mix the 50/1 oil in the proper amount with whatever quantity fuel you have. Disconnect the fuel line at the engine. Pump the fuel primer bulb until fuel exits that hose with the tint of whatever oil you used. Reconnect the fuel hose.

That's it. If you want to test the heat warning system to ease your mind, have the key in the on position, then ground out the tan heat sensor wire that you'll find protruding from the cylinder head. The warning horn should sound off.

Thanks, Joe.

I'll call the dealer on the paint.

It looked like the existing fuel line was 5/16, but I thought it should be 3/8". I'll make the changes when I install the water separator filter on it.

OK

I have the Evinrude Silver in the rattle cans, and clearcoat, but wasn't sure when they went to the Light Blue Metallic color.

thanks

Dont think they ever did post '80......at least not in the larger hp's......in '89 they went dark blue, silver was the go for majority of the decade.
