Ok, so there may be a better group to post this question to, probably an inboard iboats forum, but since I LIKE all the Hurricane owners here, I'll look to you all for guidance.

Having only ever owned outboards before, with oil/gas mix, I am literally confused as to how to check my oil level on my inboard engine!!! Is there a dip stick that I just can't seem to locate?

Sorry to have to ask such a 'dip stick' type question here.... :)

There should be a dip stick, just like in a car or truck. Good luck finding it though.

If its a standard Mercruiser engine (3.0L or 4.3L) there will be a dipstick (yellow colored handle) at the front of the engine off to the right of the belt assembly.

Re: Newbie inboard owner question

Oil dip stick found! Thanks for the clue as to where to look!!! I started at the 'front' of the engine, up and to the right of the belts and pulleys. My dip stick is actually hidden behind the two oil lines coming out of the oil filter. I had missed seeing it there a dozen times. One concern I have is that the oil stick is showing the oil level to be way above normal. Going to have it changed real soon and will keep an eye on what level it is when it comes back. Checked it after running hard for about an hour and pulling it out of the water onto the trailer. Boat wasn't completely level, but still the oil level was too high for my liking.

Now here is another OIL question for anyone still reading this thread, not that it is a Hurricane specific question.
On your Hurricanes, what is your idling oil pressure? I am still getting used to figuring out what is normal for this boat of mine. Crusing at a high rpm the gauge reads about 40 PSI. Under slower speeds drops to about 10, however when I am sitting at idle the PSI is almost nil.

What are other experiences out there?

Best to post a new thresd and also specifics of the engine and outdrive on the engine forums. This should be similar by engine and not as specific to the boat
