Just bought a used 25hp Johnson outboard, have no paperwork and cant seem to find the model or serial #'s, I did find one string of numbers on the transom bracket it is 319709-1 That is all I can find. I really just need to know right now what the gas/oil mix ratio should be, but also would like to be able to indentify this motor.

Thanks in advance for Your help:confused:

look for a freeze plug on the engine block like this. if not post pictures of motor. oil mix depends on how old it is.

Re: Newbie Needs Help

the "G" # is serial # those are not published. check with a dealer, the other numbers are part #s used on many different motors.

The paint scheme on that motor puts it into the 80s at least. Which also means a solid 25 or so years into the 50:1 mix ratio.

In other words, mix 50:1.
