Newbie Q, 99 q5 tahoe or 98 glastron 195se

both have the same 190hp engine, both have the extras such as bimini, cover, etc. both look to be in very good condition with no tears or rips in the seats. the glastron has 280hours and tahoe has 200hrs. equal distance for both to pick up. according to the owners just regular maintenance and no big repairs on either. any idea on these two boats, selling my jet ski's for 7300.00 and will buy these for roughly 7500.00. have no extra $ to look for better boat in the mid to upper 8k range, but what i want is a boat for 7-8 people, pull my kids on ski's on the lake and run up and down the intercoastal. i waterskied for university of alabama and not interested in serious skiing behind this boat, just playing for me.
my only boat ownership was a prostar 190 i had several years ago, no experience on i/o's

First of congrats on the win against Arkansas. What a game!
Don't know much about the tahoe's but glastron's are a great boat. I own a Chapparal 2002. I/O are alot of fun, but I also found out are alot of work, lots of parts and maintence. Dont be bashful when buying ask lots of questions about the motor and outdrive as far as problems etc. Just bought my boat in June with 169 hrs on it and I had to buy a new motor. Previous owner didnt winterize the 2nd yr and cracked the block. Dealer slapped together rusted motor (which I found out from tearing it down). Dont want to scare you away but they can be expensive.

i'd think which ever one has a capacity of 7-8 folks......to meet yer needs......that is a lot of weight. my boats rated for 6. i like three or four peoples at most, if possible.......and prefer 2......

should clarify, its 4 adults and 4-5 kids at max

You will still be pushing it with 8 of any sized humans on a 19 to 21 foot boat. We have a 20'8" Larson and with 6 adults it is almost too full. It is rated for 9. I spent some time on a friends 22' caravelle with 8 adults on it and I am glad it was a small lake. If we had to do much riding it would have been very cramped.

I would have to say go for the Glastron if all other things other than the name are equal. Glastron is made by Genmar as is my Larson and it has been great so far. Of course I only have 14 hours on it...........
