Sorry for the elementary question, but what exactly IS a "carb kit"?

What's in it?

What's different about the carbs on a boat motor that they require re-doing/re-building from time to time? How do I know when it's time?

Finally, can one do this "kit" thing on one's own? Is it the kind of thing I can do in my garage? Do these "carb kits" cover everything I need to do to keep my carbs in good shape?

The kit consists of gaskets and seals, and yes, you can do it yourself, but use a good manual for your exact motor. Just take carb apart, and soak in carbuerator cleaner, blow out with compressed air, and rebuild. Follow the directions for a link and sync, and away you go.
