I have an old 1989 Thomspon 270. It has twin 4.3L Mercruisers in it. One motor is blown and the outdrives had no props on them. my question is, would these both rotate the same?...or would one be counter clockwise and clockwise? Looking at buying a replacement motor and needing some advice.

Unclear if you're asking about the motor, or the whole package. As bondo said, the engines will be the same but the outdrives will be counter rotating.

ALL sterndrive engines are LH (standard) rotation. If the prop on the port side turns the other way, that counter rotating is done in the lower housing of the drive, not by spinning the engine the other way...

Hey everyone thanks for all the info. I bought a used 4.3 L motor. And will get it running before I put it in. Good to know that it’s the outdrives that spin differently.
