Some Sears motors were made by Tanaka. I believe Eska made some also.

Welcome to iboats :)

PS: The Sears Parts Centers rape you on any/all replacement parts for those motors. My uncle had to replace the cheap plastic fuel tank (1/2 gallon or so) on a 3.0 hp and it was $45 US which is probably around $600 Canadian. ;)

Yes, up until the late 1980's Eska made some Gamefishers. Also, for the last 10 years or so that Sears sold outboards the 5HP and larger models were made by Force.

alden,

While the Sears parts are a bit pricey, at least they're available. Sears has done a great job of supporting their old outboards...much better than most rebranders. The parts breakdowns and exploded views available on their website are something special, too.

Try to find the same thing for Wards Sea King motors...no luck.

Thanks guys, my everyday motor is an 89 Johnson 15hp, it works very well, I am impressed with its performance. My Dad had very little luck with the Sears motor he had and it wound up in the corner of the building for a long time!
Larry
