Newbie with Prop Question

Hello Everyone...

I just purchased an 1987 Sportcraft 205 Fisherman Off-Shore, and it was equipped with a OMC V-4 outboard.

The model number for the motor is 1.8 AHPHD. The previous owner said the prop is too larger for the boat.

I can not find any numbers anywhere on the prop.. So my question is: What prop do I need for the best preformance.

I have read spec's of props, this one does that, and this one does this! I am just totally confused...

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: Newbie with Prop Question

What you have is an OMC Sea Drive, small bore V4 looper. It isn't a true outboard as it cannot be raised (mounted higher on the transom) easily.

As for the prop, you'll need to know what rpm the motor will turn now and what it does that you'd like to change. IE - need more bow lift / stern lift / stay on plane at a lower speed / reduce top rpm / raise top rpm / better holeshot / towing water toys etc.

Once you know what the top rpm is with it, you may have a prop shop measure it. Then identify what you want to change and go from there.

Sometimes there is a number under the prop nut.
We'll be glad to assist as you get further info.
