Newer 115 four stroke cover release failed

While fishing this past week, I noticed the front release for the cowling was flopping around. When I got the boat on the trailer, I checked and it feels like it no longer moves anything inside, just flops around (failed in the LOCK position). The rear release still works fine but I can't pull it open far enough to see what the heck's wrong with the front one.
I'm wide open for suggestions!

Problem solved. Extra pair of hands to help jiggle while turning the release handle was the ticket. Turns out, the cam that rotates when the handle is turned is held on with a single bolt that must have vibrated loose. Some Locktite and I'm back in business.
