I was talking with a friend last night that has one of these. He has had it to several shops none have found the problem. The last shop told him they have 11 others with the same problem. The front brakes from time to time put off a strong smell as thogh they are hot, when this happens the brakes are not so good! I now there are Dodge fans out there with these trucks, so, what have ya'll found to fix this? (late 90's to 2003)<br />Richard

I own a Dodge Ram never had that problem before nor has any one I now that has one. I have had and still have some problems with braking sometimes the pedal will go to the floor and I will have to pump it to get brakes again haven’t found what causes that even changed out the calipers still no fix.

He said that it feals "spongy"(sp) when it does it. I am thinking it's with the master cylandar. He also said he's tierd of changing parts, one set of pads only lasted a few weeks. But when the shop people drive it all is well. Hard to find these problems that come and go!!

" spongy" is what I get to never smelled any thing from it its been that way scents I bought it new in 1998 they will work good if the first time you put on the brakes you pump it first then brake never lost fluids or nothing

where did he buy his brakes? if a shop did it where did they buy them? I bought a set for my blazer with the lifetime warrenty from autozone and they are trash. I have replaced them 3 times in the past year one time about a month and a half ago and now they are starting to squeal again. They stink when you heat them up a little for the first month or so then they start to squeal. This time I am gonna try to upgrade the brakes when I take them back and get the better ones.

I'll see if he knows where the pads came from, most shop really (at least aron these parts) don't wont to tell you where the parts came from. From the "dust" on the wheels I would say he has organic pads at the moment. I don't byt anything from autozone anymore, good warenty but you have to keep taking things back (way to soon)!

I regret getting them from autozone cause it means i gotta keep going back to that dump. the advance auto wasnt opened yet. Advance isnt much better with quality of parts but the guys there know thier stuff and are willing to help you out. The guys at advance couldnt care less about customer service.
