The first question you need to answer, what does she like to do? What are her interests? Does she express a certain interest when you are out shopping together, is she indoorsy, outdoorsy, like to do handcrafts and such? Music tastes, clothing tastes...etc. You married her, now its time to get to know her!

Great advice but just for fun and having the experience of being married for 40 years...I've got to say... buy something sacrificial not practical!

The absolutely never-fail gift for women is jewelry. Best bang for buck I ever got was diamond studs.

Good luck. :)

Okay...... google Pandora or Chamilia which are the new age cram bracelets. Once you get one you can always fall back on ANY occasion and get her some new charm beads ........ only do that if jewelry is her thing. Diamonds are great too but all the gifts are budget dependent....... If you go with a watch .....go higher end.

A gift certificate to a Spa for a Pedicure or Massage is also a good way out.

If you get her a vacuum or any household product........ it could be SO UGLY the funeral will have a closed casket!

Women want something from their spouse that shows we love them and give them things that they like to make them feel good.

My first wife and I were married 28 yrs (until her passing :( ) and my wife now is almost 6 years and never a gift complaint ;)

Bob, that was a really great suggestion.

Aaron, a women wants you to give her something personal. Something from your heart that makes her feel extremely special. Jewelery is always a welcome and special gift for us. I understand that she enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, and boating, but get her something that says you appreciate and love her as a woman, something feminine.

I have to go with the jewelery too. My wife of 33 years is like yours...hunts fishes camps and rides her own Harley.... I never have gotten a complaint giving her some jewelery for an occasion. :D

Beautiful flowers, with a nice card that you write all that sweet, mushy stuff in it with your own handwriting, something personal like jewelry, perfume, pretty clothes(not sweat shirt), I've found a $100 dollar bill in the card is well-received. A gift card to her favorite store at the mall. No hunting/camping gear! No vacuum cleaners or household maintenance items. Don't screw this up!

My wife had a pretty sheltered childhood and never went to camp or anything like that. Thus she had never ridden a horse. She had mentioned somewhere along the line that it was something she always wanted to do. Well one day I was cruising craigslist and saw an ad for a nearby horse farm that offered trail rides. So I arranged a trail ride for the two of us. When I told her about it she cried. Best gift ever. (That was last June and she's been taking riding lessons every week now since then). So what I'm saying is that some kind of "experience" type thing might be a good gift.

First thing in the morning go to local super market that has cheap flowers, six bucks or so, also grab a card with some meaning to it with the word love or special person, put the flowers in a vase or large glass thing with the card in the flowers. In the middle of the day give her, her favorite box of candy and you can add another mushy card if you like, then take her out to eat, not burger king, while there hold her hand on the table in front of other people and whisper a few mushy words, give her a kiss shortly after.

Hopefully way, way before all this you stopped at the drug store and grabbed some Viagra. :) :)

things that have worked in the past for me are jewelry, flowers, sspa trip was very liked, and then it's the off the cuff remark that she makes. pay attention she'll mention something that she'd like to try or possibly have. something she wouldn't splurge on by herself.

this year for mother's day my girl is getting a skydive lesson and jump. she mentioned it a few years ago and still looks around a little, I know she'll enjoy it and she'd never go out and get it for herself. it's a memory that she'll have forever.

I think Fly Rod is on the right track. Our women like to see us men make some kind of sacrifice of ourselves....they are not looking for fun, practicality or functionality, just knowing that you sacrificed your time and money to give them something that seem silly to us is what they appreciate. I go along on the drug store trip too,but.......I can't go out in public afterwards because I also take Rogaine too and I can't get my hair to lay down!

Protip: find two meaningful cards, hand-write the words from the one card inside the other card. BAM! :p:D

Best Idea I've seen here so far is the massage or spa. Key words are personal and surprise.

I arranged for a budget stretching massage, and then sent my wife to a business next door on an "errand". There she was handed the appointment for the massage just in time.

I won't tell you how she reacted except it was very positive.
