I'm looking for my next winter project and am looking at an 18' Adventure open bow. The interior looks mint and the trailer looks decent. The problem with her is she's got a 4.3l and the p.o. says it's lost compression only on #1. I know these things are almost as bullet proof as the 5.7's. Has anybody heard of these loosing only one cylinder?

Re: next winter project

Howdy,

Sure. If you had a riser gasket leak and that cyls exhaust valve was open when it was shut down, water could have ran into the cyl and sat there until it was subsequently started.

The valve could be stuck (rusted) open, the rings could be broken, the cyl could be trashed etc.

It sure sounds like poor (or no) maintenance......If you decide to buy it, look for water in the oil(and drive), and plan on a rebuilt engine..... It might not be worth much......

Cheers,

Rick
