NFL Draft - How Did You Rate Your Team?

For this year's NFL draft, how do you think your team did addressing their issues? I personally am a Bucs fan, and not too happy with the outcome. The new ownership has done nothing but destroy our defense, and improve offense, so now this year we will have no defense whatsoever!! And to top it off, they take a quarterback in the first round, AND, move up two spots to get him!! After witnessing this, the only thing that came to mind was WTF?!

Anybody else dislike their team's moves?

Since the Ravens have one of the best GMs in the business, I never complain. Not that he hits 100%, but the Ravens ability to find players over the last 10+ years is pretty well established.

Could have used a receiver but this years crop was pretty thin. So, I'll take a big, nasty OT to keep Flacco upright instead.

The Jags have me completely confused. Granted they have bolstered the recieving corp....but players they selected are unknowns....I guess time will tell. I will say I'm happy the signed Torry Holt. I watched him first hand throughout his college career and he's one of the best recievers ever.

Being from Michigan now, my comment is on the Lions. They took yet another unproven qback first, paid him a ton of money, and have no doubt he won't pan out. But how you'd tell I have no idea, as they have no supporting cast, and he could be the next John Elway and no one could tell because he'll always be flat on his back!

Oh well! Perhaps we can get the number one pick next year and get another wide reciever.

One consolation. We can't do worse than 0-16, so any change must be positive!

If the league takes away two exhibition games and tacks them on to the regular season you could be 0-18 :eek:

The Jags signing Torry Holt was a good move, I think. Now the Lions, I really hope they do better this year. At least they still have Calvin Johnson. That is one nasty reciever.
Vandy, what did you think about the Favre situation? I personally like Aaron Rodgers, and Favre did play too many games, how many times has he "retired" now? As far as Oakland, they don't stand a chance. I'd hate to say this about someone, but man, can Al Davis kick the bucket already? The way he got rid of Lane Kiffin was a joke. However, the Raiders did beat our rear ends up and down the field to close out the season last year.
Well, I guess the Bucs will go about 4-12 next year, we should do better in next year's draft.

Well, it is always nice to have achievable goals. No guarantees of course, but we are doing our best!

Re: NFL Draft - How Did You Rate Your Team?

I am sorry to hear of all you guys who doubt your team's picks. I guess as a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, I am spoiled by their drafting ability. My only two concerns about their picks this year are:
The defensive lineman they took has to be prepared to NOT be a star. Steelers' D-linemen are not the stars of the 3-4 defense.
The O-lineman they took, in his evaluation says he's too slow to pull effectively. well, the Steelers are a trap running offense. Hopefully that "pulling" comment was related to sweeps, and not short inside trap pulling.
Other than that, no reason to think my Steelers won't be better, and can beat everyone in the division twice. Only the Real Browns (Ravens) are competition.

THE NY GIANTS drafted a talented WR first round that does not presently have a half ounce of lead in his thigh, so things are looking up!:p

As far as the rest of the picks, it's anyones guess how they will pan out...

I think the draft class in general was pretty weak. The skins need a new qb, JC isn't going to cut it, but they don't seem to have the stomach to do the deal.

The only thing worse than going 0-16 is going 0-16 in the subsequent season and paying the players more $$ than the previous. Looks like that's the plan!

I'm hoping that the Ford family will need to raise some capital and will find that selling the team is the better option than selling their class B Ford shares that have all of the voting rights. There are rumors that the younger Ford generations have less interest in maintaining control of the company and just want to cash out.

As far as the draft I guess at least we have a QB who can throw the ball as far as Calvin Johnson can sprint in 3-10 seconds.:D I do like Calvin he's a great wideout. I'd have picked the middle linebacker since we have been deficient stopping the run in the middle since Chris Spielman departed.:(

We will see.

I like Aaron Rodgers. He may never be the franchise face that Favre was, but he is a good quarterback. I would have much preferred to see Favre retire after making it to the NFC Championships two years ago with the Packers. Coming back for one more season, and with a different team was a poor decision. It didn't completely tarnish his reputation, but it made lot of people lose a lot of respect for him, including myself.

Yep, Steelers did OKAY ... would have like to see the O & D lines are starting to age ... recievers needed ... Holmes might not be around long since he only made 1 great catch all year (but it counted in the big game) and has been in too much off field trouble.

Steelers did address some needs and got some athletes. They should do alright. Need to beef up the O-line more to protect Big Ben and not get him killed (and Big Ben needs to learn to throw the ball AWAY instead of taking the sack or throwing the INT, but he is still young.).

Steelers got center A.Q. Shipley from my Nittany Lions! Unde-rated pick in my opinion. Of course I have a bias being a Penn State fan, but I really think he'll be a great center if he gets the chance to play.

Vandy, you are correct ... AQ should be a good addition to the front line ... he is a pretty good pass blocker and has the legs for run blocking (and he thinks Gene Stocker is a great, great guy! LOL! ... gotta be from Central PA to understand that one).
