Champions only in an E/J.

I would suggest the (Q)L77JC4's.

Good luck!

johnson...Never heard of head gaskets being a preventative maintenance thing that you should do every two years, like a water pump or something. Also any OMC mechanic that would put NGK's in a Johnrude, I would question. As Dhadley said, only Champion's should be used in them, I would change them out as soon as possible. What area of L.I. are you in, maybe I know a good shop near you.

hey johny 110

i live on long island to and have a evi 110.
i use champs.
If i can give you real good advise contact boces in riverhead.
during the winter they offer outboard repair and maintenence classes.
You will learn in 10 classes more than in 10 years.
They show you how to rebuild you lower unit.
change waterpumps etc.
Explain how cd ignition works and the older condenser and points.
It is a lot of fun and you make great friends.

good luck

champians are the only plug to use in an omc. and i also have never heard of changing out the headgasket. i have a 1972 evinrude 9.5 with the original head gasket on it still. she runs like a top.get a tube of antiseize and put some on the threads it will help with removing them next time around i use that on every nut and bold on my outboards (except for headbolts)

The reason to change the head gaskets on a crossflow is so you can change the deflectors.

hello
yep I always reccomend a every other year head gasket lookat on the crossflows here in the salt pond. in saltwater sooner or later your going to have to take the head off. if it does not come off for the first 6 years it may not come off period. if they comme off every other years with the pump and t-stat kit not only will it decrease the odds of ever(needing) a pump it insures that in the event of a failure it can be taken apart.
good luck and keep posting.
