Niagra Falls pouring out of 1994 60hp Mercury

Loss pressure out the tell tale so I changed the water pump in a 1994 60hp Merc. Had a little more pressure coming out the pee-hole afterwards, so I decided to take it out for a run. I immediately noticed that once under way water was just pouring out from below the powerhead somewhere towards the bow of the boat. (I mean constant four inch streem). What could be the problem, I can't visually see where the water is coming from and there is no water inside the cover? Gasket below the powerhead, copper tube not in, loose bolts? I assume this was the problem from the start because the old impeller look to be in good condition.

You sure it's not the tubing that goes to the tell-tale that's squirting?

Please give us more details of your motor, I do not think that Merc had a 65HP in 1994.

IT May be a 60hp, it is a motor that I'am working on for a buddy. There is no sign of exhaust it is just pure water. It tell tale tubing is not what is squirting, there is some pressure coming through the tell tale, but I have no idea where this water is coming from. The water is pouring out at the rate as if you were pouring it out of (2) gallon jugs of water at the same time. It is pouring from both sides directly below the carburator, but under the bottom of the motor cover. It is coming from both sides of the front of the motor at the point where it pivots from right to left.

either the water tube let go or the powerhead adapter blew out. when it happens it will pour water from the steering tiller area.<br /> was a common problem in the salt pond. good luck getting it apart <br />but if your really lucky its just the adapter gasket
