NiCad Charge Question?

Here's the deal, it's pretty common knowledge that over heating NiCads is bad practice. When I charge NiCad battery packs what would I expect for a temperature rise over ambient when they are charged? I'm using a digital in/out temp unit with the outdoor probe pushed under the NiCad pack shrink wrap and it now shows 15 over ambient, 75 degrees and 90, the pack is barely warm. The pack is for my Minelab metal detector and is 14 years old and it still gives me about 8-9 hours of search time. Thanks for any ideas, Ken

Thanks, the article mentions a max rise of 10 degrees C above ambient.

I would think that would depend on the amount of insulation on the batteries and how close they're grouped. If you want to pinpoint when it's charged, you'll notice a sharp increase in temperature (dT/dt).
