Nick Names

[OBJ]

Just tried something and it works......I think.

Couldn't get my display name back to OBJ so for grins, I went to the user area and clicked on nicknames. I put in OutboardJim and put the nickname OBJ in the second box. I'm seeing OBJ on my posts now. Are ya'll seeing that too???

If a moderator is having this kind of difficulty there must be reason to proceed with great care. What seems to be a straight forward change - is for some and isn't for others. The nuts and bolts of the situation is the same but some body must be truning the wrong screw. 8)

OBJ, let me tell you about this here nickname stuff as far as I know it.
You can enter nicknames for different members and when you see them post something, you see them as the nic you assigned to them.
They do not see it along with no other member, just you, so when you put OBJ in, the only one that will see that online is you.

You have to go to the change name part of your user area and request OBJ.
Once approved, then all your post will show up as OBJ to everyone on the board unless someone has you down as something else.:devil:

It will then show you as logged in as OBJ and that is what you have to log in by from now on, not your old username.

With the old board there was a username and a public name,.
with the new one there's just username,.
if you want it to show something else you do a name change,.
nicknames only change how you see other people

Ryan fixed me up. So you all should be seeing OBJ again. The box called Displayed Screen Name, this is in the edit profile area of your user area, don't work. Ryan said he's going to delete it.

What you said is right Les, but I was trying anything to see if I could get my old monicker back.....d
