Re: Nida Bond for bedding stringers?
What's the best way to gap them? I havent seen threads around here about doing that.
I would like to know the same. Maybe I'm old school now....but I don't want a gap under my stringers, especially the one the motor may be mounted to. As this method is new to me, I have followed the threads with interest. No boatbuilder I ever worked with ever floated a stringer system. Not my 40 year old boat, or others I have.
Hard spots are prevelent on most modern hulls. We have strakes, keels, chines...all are hard.
I would think the decision would remain in the construction of the hull. How thick is the hull layup schedule? Is the bottom cored? I wouldn't want a floating stringer system in a rigid built hull and I wouldn't want a rigid built stringer in a flexable hull.
As a builder and not restorer (learnin') my opinion is........depends!
Good Luck Rick!
