Nissan 15hp questions

I just recently picked up a 98 Nissan 15hp engine. The engine has been sitting almost all of its life... I took it out, and was surprised at how well it ran for sitting so long!
I have a couple of questions;
1. I need to raise the motor an inch or two on the transom, and don't see any obvious adjustments on the bracket to raise, only to tilt. Is there no easy way to adjust the height?
2. I see 3 wires (black, yellow, white) coming from electrical, not connected to anything. What are these for?
3. I'm going to change out the impeller this weekend. Is there anything else I should check or do while I'm in there? Are there any other seals or gaskets I should get besides the impeller?

Thank you

Re: Nissan 15hp questions

1. No, not on any OB of any brand in that size category. You will need to buy or build a jack plate, or shim the transom.
2. Alternator circuit for tachometer.
3. Do the complete wp kit, not just the impeller.

Consider changing the LU lube as well.

Re: Nissan 15hp questions

Why would you need to rise engine/transom 1-2" ? Are you experimenting water splashes over transom when trying to plane or at plane ? What's your transom border to lower keel height ?

Re: Nissan 15hp questions

Thanks for all the replies.
Captain- yes I do have water coming over top of transom at full speed. Transom is roughly 15". The splash plate on the motor, seems to be barely under the water at full plane. I'm hoping a slight raise will remedy this.
