Nissan 40 hp LOUD

I recently swapped an Evinrude 25 for a Nissan 40 to get some extra speed. It is faster. My complain is that the motor is LOUD. Much louder than other 40s. I had a Force 50 once which was a POS, but it was relatively quiet. Other people have assured me it is louder than most. Any ideas on how to reduce the noise or is this common for Nissan?

There isn't a difference on noise level between brands if hp and technology are the same....Your going from a 25 to a 40 so it's going to be louder. The Force 50 didn't have thru hub exhaust so they were a little more quiet at the expense of power.

I sprayed some undercoating insulation inside the cowl,
and that helped significantly for my 18hp.

Is your 40hp the older carbureted 40hp model or the newer "TLDI" model?
