Yes it can be done. Yes, there is a diaphragm pump on 2-strokes, and a push-rod-operated pump on 4-strokes. What is your model? There may be a kit to do this, otherwise, check the parts catalog for the bits required. I just setup a customer's 5 hp 2-stroke this way. The new 4-strokes don't even come with an internal tank -- external only.
