Nissan motor age

I have a Nissan (NS9.9B 355A-1 s/n 96686).. I need to know the year of manufacture for the state registration. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

They didn't use model years back the 80's. Yours would have manufactured some time between 84 and 89.
