Schematic,

That's the concensus here-RARE! Doesn't mean they're bad, just the same situation as Suzuki-hard to find support.

Actually I've heard they are very well built.

Re: Nissan Outboards

Bought my rig last year , used, with a 70 hp Nissan. I'm a first timer, so don't have a lot to compare to, but I have no complaints other than the fact that it is hard to find parts for, and only one or two places will work on Nissan's

Hi Schematic, Nissan motors stand up very well. They have been around for a long time. some areas they are rare, but other areas very popular. They even make some other manufacturers motors, but those guys won't admit to it. As with any motor, maintenencae is a key issue. If it was maintained well, it should be a good one. :D

Older Nissan/Tohatsu are excellent motors for durability and longevity. Only motor used by commercial fishermen/shrimpers etc. near me besides Yamaha. Dont know about the newer TLDI (optimax) versions. They do make some powerheads for others. In particular their oil injection pump design is superior and unlikely to fail. Dealers are sparse though if you need support.
