Nissan/Tohatsu/Merc 20hp too much to troll?

My question is this. I currently have a little 14ft crestliner 1462 utility (dry weight 150lbs and rated for a 25hp). I run a 05 yammy 9.9 4 stroke currently that has been trouble free. I am looking to upgrade to likely the Tohatsu 20hp 4 stroke that now replaces the 18hp.
I figure my yammy weighs in at about 105lbs, so for an extra 10lbs I can have double the motor. The 9.9 is fine for just myself, but add another passenger and it is slow going and wont get on plane. I figure the weights are the same between the 15/18 and 20hp models, so why not get the 20.

I will be using this exclusively for fishing and long trolls, and was wondering for those who have this motor, or have any insight as to whether or not the 20 will be sufficient or too big to troll at very slow speeds. I would like to get down to about 1.5mph or so w/o having to add anything such as a "happy troller ect"

Any thoughts, or would I be better off simply getting a 15hp?
I can get the Tohatsu 20hp for $400 less than the Merc. I understand these are all made by Tohatsu for the most part up to the 30hp models, no?

I have had the 18hp for about 7 years now, and it will troll fine.
It likes fuel stabilizer added to the gas, and normal oil and lube changes.
Other than than, pretty much maintenance free, and runs great.
Oh, the gas mileage is great, hard to believe how little gas it uses,
even when running at speed.

Agreed. Just don't idle continuously, or you may "make oil" from too much blowby.
