I am lookng at purchasing a 2001 Nitro 700 LX boat. Does anyone know if I can use this in salt water? I bass fish but also do alot of fishing in the bay. It would be protected waters. I was wondering if the boat can handle the waves that are typical in the bay.

I don't know that boat, but bass boats are notoriously bad in salt water. For one thing, many of the fittings aren't stainless. Second, they do not handle waves or chop well, so your use will be very limited.

If you "do a lot of fishing in the bay" get a fiberglass center console and use it in both places. If not, a green aluminum such as a Lowe.

I agree completly. Bass boats are not really designed for that. Center console wold be best.

Not enough freeboard as the other guys say, I don't like bass boats even on lakes, yeh they go fast but I like more hull under me.
