No alarm??

All,
I finally got the boat started, timed, and set the carb. Now, the only problem is that the "low oil pressure / high temp" alarm isn't coming on if you just leave the key in the on position for 7 to 14 seconds (this is how it is supposed to be tested). The ONLY wires I messed with were to the distributor and ignition sensor, I'm not too sure what else could have been messed up. No loose wires hanging around anywhere...

It's a Four Winns with the 350 Magnum, Thunderbolt IV ignition. Does anyone know the wiring for the alarm?

Thanks -

Re: No alarm??

Tan / blue wires go to overheat, oil presure, low drive oil sensors, etc. They are all groundouts. So, take any one of them and ground it and your audible warning buzzer should sound.

Re: No alarm??

Did you run it in the water yet?

I FINALLY got mine in the water today with the "new" eng/drive.

55 mph at WOT(about 4600-4700 rpm. not too bad I suppose.

The boat launches like a rocket now....much better than with the 460/King Cobra before (of course the 460 had several flat lobes on the cam....)

The only wire that will "test" your alarm is the oil pressure switch. It should be back near where the oil filter adapter is..... right rear of the engine.
That's only switch that will be grounded when the engine is not running.

You can test it like 95yj said by disconnecting the oil switch, high temp switch or the drive oil level connection and touching it to ground any where on the engine. (they should be TAN/BLU wires)

If it doesn't sound then you either have a defective beeper, no power to the beeper or a broken wire somewhere.

Cheers,

Rick
