No angle transom

What will happen if I mount a 70 hp evinrude to the back of my no angle transom on an 18 ft jon boat? will it plane? If not how much of an angle do I need to get it to preform properly?

Transom wedges are available. Check your local marine shop.

Can I use several sets of the wedges together, they are only 5 degrees per set so I would need 3 sets to get the required amount of angle on the transom. Anyone ever done this?

15 degrees is a lot of angle... 10 degrees should suffice. Try it gently and see what happens

I have a friend who just bought 10 or 15 degree (I think) wedges. I'll find out where he got them and let you know.

I was wrong. The most he could find was 5 degrees.

With some caution try it with one wedge.The most that will happen is you can't trim in enough and it may porpoise or run high in the bow.then add another wedge.
