Each boat responds differently to motor-mounted hydrofoils. The purpose is to get the boat to plane more quickly and at a lower speed. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. They may lower top speed noticeably, or they may not. There are also different styles of hydrofoils. You'll have to try one on your boat to know for sure. They are no more a band-aid than self-adjusting trim tabs that mount to the hull.

a rule of thumb is $100 per horse power for new. Did you figure out what the max hp you can have?

No one suggested:

Look inside the hatch covers, especially where the battery is/was and ON the gas tanks. You might find a label plate with info useful in identifying the make and model of the boat.

The labels on the gas tanks in my bass boat specify the boat make and model series.

Assuming the motor shaft length is the correct size, and you have the proper pitch prop, the Yamaha 250 should make that boat fly. Older 200-250 hp are anywhere from $1500-4000 on Craigs List.

I bought yesterday a yamaha 250 txrp two stroke.year 1991.its an old motor and need repair.a head is corroded throu.need new head.all other is in good condition.i bought it for 1300? from italy.hope its worth.do you guys have any experience with yamahas.can anybody tell me what is a average fuel consumption.thank you

The boat has no plates and no numbers anywhere the tank was out of stainless steel homemade.it doesnt matter what brand it is.will repair it and will be like new.hope the motor is ok.
