I just got this 1986 40hp evinrude, it starts right up.. until I washed under the hood, engine degreaser and a water hose. What have I done? No fire to the plugs at all. Any ideas? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks guys..

how long did it dry after  some of the ignition parts need to stay dry, you may be able to dry them in the oven at its lowest setting, do a search on how to pickle an engine that's been dunked, I saw a video on this on youtube, it may help with more specifics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxN5vXTVzc

Engine degreaser is meant to be sprayed on while motor is hot. I personally then use water from a coffee maker, poured at a slow steady stream. If you blasted with cold water from a hose, could be the dissolved grease got into some connectors for the electric. Unplug any connectors, clean with spray electric cleaner, compressed air , then coat with dielectric grease and try again. I degrease while running with solvent, hot water and compressed air.
