i recently got a 60hp mariner serial number 0g185851 (1995). it hadnt been run in at least 3 years i was told. i replaced water pump and cleaned it up and hooked it up on boat in tub of watger in driveway. put in new plugs and it fired up fairly easily and i only ran it a couple minutes cause it was raining. next day before i took it to lake i started it again and it ran about 3 minutes then just quit. now im getting no spark. ive tested ohms and dva on stator and trigger and everything is within specs. the rectifier/voltsge rgulatror had a burn spot on it and one of the yellow wires from stator had a burn mark at the connection so i replaced voltage/rectifier. still no fire . is it most likley switchbox? and if it is should i replace trigger with switchbox? i9f it makes a difference it has trhe red stator with 2 yellow wires and a green and white/green wires
thanks

it sounds like it could be the switch box, trigger or stator... but you have to be careful, if the stator is bad, and you put in a new switch box, it could blow the new switch box.. I would start with the stator and trigger and check the voltage from each one, if the voltage is good you know its the switch box. these are simple tests nothing hard.

If it’s ran with the rectifier blown it will have flattened the battery. Have you charged it since ?

The red stator have a high rate of failure...DVA taet voltage output as ohm specs are misleading/worthless. Have had stators that show within ohm spec but low have voltage output.

Dva voltage on stator is around 200volts while cranking. It doesnt gave high/low side just green/white and white green and 2 yellow wires. Battery is fully charged. The saftey lanyard is not pulled, also checked with black/yellow wire disconnected. And trigger tested dva was within specs, i cant remember exactly what it was. Thanks fir the replys and help

Good point above. If you think you aren’t getting a spark, check the continuity across the coils at room temp.
That aside, given that you mentioned about the rectifier being compromised...I’m wondering what else might have been.

Out of adapter to switchbox has 282 v at cranking, the greenwhite to white green on stator have 284v at cranking
