1995 60 hp mariner wouldn't start, found #2 cylinder not firing, brought it to the shop, mechanic replaced the stator. Ran great first trip out after, second trip she died, no fire at all. What else could it be besides the powerpack, can I test it with a digital voltmeter ?
Thanks

Glenn to test the system you would need a peak voltage adapter or DVA to read your voltage properly

Re: No fire !

Hello,

I had a problem similar to that with my 1984 75hp Merc. I got the stator replaced, and after that, it was discovered that the switch box was also faulty, so it was replaced. It runs perfect now. The bad part is that the switch box was quite expensive, let alone what the stator cost. Luckily, I am located close to a great shop with excellent helpful mechanics. I would have done the work myself, but I lack the proper tools and equipment.

Hope that helps!
