no fuel getting to carb...

just changed fuel filter and water separator filter, boat was running fine untill now. 1983 mercruiser 260 5.7. pulled fuel line from carb and turned motor over and no fuel. mechanical fuel pump, so i dont think there could be a fuse issue. going to buy new fuel pump tomorrow. any help would be appreciated. thanks

if it is a In-line filter make sure you have the filter going in the right direction. There should be an arrow on the filter housing, make sure arrow is pointing towards the carb. Check fuel lines for any blockage by carefully forcing air in the line towards tank and listen for bubbles. If it does not correct problem, your fuel pump is most likely the cause of your no start.

thank you for the reply, fuel filter seems to be installed properly. pulled new water seporator filter off and no fuel coming out there. should be full now it the pump is working properly i would think. thanks again

And you might have blockage around your pick up tube.

Time to review just what you did. If the problem arose AFTER your service, chances are it's related to what you did.

thanks for the help, just had to prime the fuel pump and running good now...
