Jeez that ain't good.

Alright head gasket went, or valve and seats need to be polished.

Or both.

Or rings went.

Or all 3.

Re: No fuel going to carb

Here s the compression test results on the cold engine, Could not warm it up cause it still will not start. 7 revolutions

140 - 85

125 - 70

115 - 130

Put three squirts of oil in the two low cylinders and retested all cylinders.
4 revolutions, as per the mercruiser guidelines

140 - 90

110 - 70

120 - 130

I d like to get this motor started and see if it is a valve with some corrosion on it, like rust and may free up and reseat. I do not expect it to be perfect but maybe usable.

Ok then lets get it started.

Clean the carb first thing.

Blow thru the metal fuel hose with compressed air, make sure its clean. Use carb cleaner in a can. And blow after got to be clean.

Clean the fuel filter in the carb fitting.

Put a working fuel pump on the fuel line you know is clean.

Cheap electric auto one just for testing purpose, is ok.

Just hook it to the battery with battery clips is ok but just before you attempt to start it.

Use a external gas tank, do not use the internal gas tank for this phase, fresh gas in a gerry can with a hose hooked to the metal line.

I would spend a few dollars and give it a oil change and a new oil filter.

I wouldn't want to circulate dirty oil.

Ok hook up the fuel pump, make sure it's a 4-6 psi pump.

Start that sucker.

Don't start? Pour a little gas down the carb.

Clean the points with sand paper just for now.

Still no start the wires bad?

No spark?

Ground good connections good?

Starter connections good?

Good luck.

try priming the the carb, it is done by pressing the throttle all the way forward three times in the neutral position before you try to start the motor, no one told me on my merc, so I had a awful summer, now that I know this the boat starts ever time first time. see my post "wish someone had told me."
