no high speed

yesterday i took my 81 15hp johnson out it ran fine then it died and it wouldnt ilde up fast it will ilde but no high then i carry it home put the hose to it it ran fine could i of had some trash get in my high speed jet? if so can a person put a filter on the gas hose ? thxs so much

I wish people would punctuate. It's awfully hard to comprehend your post. You can put a filter in there, but there should be a strainer on your fuel pump already. Check your tank for water. Make sure both cylinders are getting spark.

johnnyt, did it run hot? did you check the temperture on the top of the motor, when it died. you've been questioning the water pump. running hot it will stop, and not recrank. do a compression test on it, also check for spark on both cylinders. see by starting a new post people don't have the whole story.
