no ignition on 25HP evinrude

I just got a 1977 25HP Evinrude from a friend and I can't get any spark out of her on either cylinder. Is there a way to check the power pack with a multi-meter or is that not likely the problem. What about checking the coils? I hate to have to take it to a dealer as it would probaably cost more to check it then the motor is worth. Thankx

Go to top of page and do a search for power packs and there should be several come up.<br />joe reeves and obj have touched on this subject many times.

Is this a tiller or remote control?<br /><br />Check the kill switch, first. Then go from there.<br /><br /> Troubleshooting
