I have a 1993 Aqua Chalet 20 ft.pontoon and have no plate anywhere for maximum passengers or load or maxium horse power rating. I have put a 1978 johnson stinger 75 HP on it.I want to stay within regulations. and research on aqua chalet shows only large house boats. i have heard Godfrey bought them out. how would i ever get a disply plate for coast guard?

Have to contact manufacturer.
CG can't re-issue a plate.
According to the coast guard site, they made about 150 pontoon boats in the 90's.

Who do you believe would be Manufacturer of Aqua Chalet? any help would be great! Do you believe a 75HP on a 20ft TOON with oversize toons is unreasonable?

Most new large toons are being sold with 50 hp four strokes(heavy). I don't think a 75hp 2 stroke will be too much on a 20 ft boat. Why not just look at other 20 footers and see their capacity is if you can't find the manufacturer?

I'd just keep an eye on the transom and supporting bracketing. Any signs of deterioriation would need immediate attention.

Agree, on the Cobbra suggestion on looking at what others are running. I know several mfgrs make 60 hp "big foot" engines for toons and you aren't that far off in thrust from them.

My 2c,

Mark

75 HP on a 20 ft "toon" will make it fly and be a potential handful if you got carried away. 40 HP would be great plenty. Get a little too much water over the bow (deck) and a pontoon suddenly becomes a submarine.

i would go for it. who says you have to run wot, but you have the power to push a full load. use dilligent care and keep the load balanced. in rough water move the load to the stearn and keep bow higher. you will have the power to pull toys.
