From this month on I have joined the ranks of the fully retired and all my boating will be with me paying for the gas. After 34 plus years as a deputy Waterways Conservation Officer I have hung up my spurs in a manner of speaking.
My wife said that now I can be out fishing on weekends rather than watch other people fish. I told her that won?t happen as I never did like to fish when the lake was busy but I will be out a lot more during the week. I will be spending my weekends working on my property and gardens as three years ago I built a log home in the middle of 25 acres of forested mountain ground and there is a lot still to do.
My shop is on a piece of property along with a house I rent out that is 26 miles away and I plan on building a new shop and barn here so I can sell the other property when real estate prices rebound some.
I may contribute a story now and then about lame excuses I have heard from people I have stopped over the years.
For starters; I once stopped a boat that was short one PFD and their reply was that it blew overboard and sank before they could retrieve it.
I attached a picture of my old ride I took at the end of my last day of boat patrol. From now on it will be my 20? Nitro bass boat or my 12? tinny depending on my mood.
