No more getting paid to boat

From this month on I have joined the ranks of the fully retired and all my boating will be with me paying for the gas. After 34 plus years as a deputy Waterways Conservation Officer I have hung up my spurs in a manner of speaking.

My wife said that now I can be out fishing on weekends rather than watch other people fish. I told her that won?t happen as I never did like to fish when the lake was busy but I will be out a lot more during the week. I will be spending my weekends working on my property and gardens as three years ago I built a log home in the middle of 25 acres of forested mountain ground and there is a lot still to do.

My shop is on a piece of property along with a house I rent out that is 26 miles away and I plan on building a new shop and barn here so I can sell the other property when real estate prices rebound some.

I may contribute a story now and then about lame excuses I have heard from people I have stopped over the years.

For starters; I once stopped a boat that was short one PFD and their reply was that it blew overboard and sank before they could retrieve it.

I attached a picture of my old ride I took at the end of my last day of boat patrol. From now on it will be my 20? Nitro bass boat or my 12? tinny depending on my mood.

Pic from marina at Bald Eagle State Park? Want to do a fishing trip up there some time. Congrats on your career and your retirement.

Sounds good. No ice on the lake yet but Black Mo has 5". Lets get in touch later for sometime in May when the crappie fishing gets hot.

Congradulations! Thank you for keeping the waterways safe.

I want to hear some more stories......mainly to know which ones to avoid.

Sounds like you're set! Thank you for your service and enjoy your well deserved retirement! It should be fun getting your log cabin up to snuff!
