Re: No Muffy...No Start

Theseafoam is working. It spit out a bunch of crud and I am currently soaking it with the spray stuff over night.

While it is soaking...I noticed my battery terinals and cables got REALLY hot! The neg was boiling water off of the wing nut. This may be a stupid question, but, is that normal?

The only thing that I know of as being a possible wiring issue is that I have the white wire with a red strip hooked up to the acc on the switch. The white with red stripped wire is a pos comming from the coil. Is that a issue?

Thank you all!

heat = bad connection take t apart clean and hook it all back up, good luck with the seafoam, brought mine up 10lbs on all cyl, also you may need to change the spark plugs after the seafoam is done

Re: No Muffy...No Start

rwise,

The only wires I have hooked up are for the ignition, all tight. My bro-in-law (vader8674) said he has a wiring diagram to make sure we are hooked up right.

Yeah, the plugs are NASTY. I will clean them tomorrow. I hope to take it out after work tomorrow to see what happens. Thanks again guys.

I believe I have the wiring figured out. The white wire with red stripe goes to one of the "M"s on the ignition. It is coming from the coil so I gather since it is an engine commonent I am right. I found a thread about an evinrude that was similiar.

I did notice that the engine seemed to get hot pretty quick when it actually ran. I am glad to have done it in moderation.

Seafoam is working, it starts and runs in the water. I still need to clean more and recheck the compression. Thank you for your ideas. I will update this post later, hopefully it will help someone else.

The boat runs at about 20 to 25 mph. I believe at this point that it is all in the carb. Will be ordering a carb and fuel pump kit.

About those hot wires.

Just because the connections are tight doesn't mean they're clean. I learned this the hard way by buying an un-necessary starter - ouch. My negative terminal had corroded on the underside even though the connection was tight.

Unhook the terminals and clean them off.
